WINGS' 15th Anniversary

WE ARE TURNING 15!

2016 is a BIG year for WINGS – we are turning 15! We have accomplished so much over the last 15 years thanks to your continuing support. We hope you will join us in celebration of WINGS’ Quinceañera!

We are grateful to YOU: our supporters, leaders, board members and staff — who have contributed to our 15 years of success. It is your support, initiative and leadership that have made it possible.

We’ve come a long way since 2001 and indeed have much to celebrate. From helping a handful of women who couldn’t afford to pay for tubal ligations, with you by our side we have grown to become one of the leader family planning and reproductive health organizations in Guatemala, working in 12 predominately rural, indigenous, and low-income provinces, operating through 3 stationary clinics and a network of mobile and partner clinics.

15 YEARS REFLECTING BACK AND LOOKING FORWARD

In 1999, a friend asked Sue Patterson to help seven women who each had at least eight children and desired to get tubal ligations. Sue contributed of her own funds and also sought donations. After receiving an overwhelming amount of support, Sue decided to start a family planning non-profit organization in Guatemala. Watch the video interview with Sue to learn more!

TESTIMONIALS

After visiting Guatemala so many times and seeing young women in poor health because of bearing so many children at young ages, I became a strong supporter of WINGS’ efforts in education, health services, and family planning. What an important contribution to bettering the quality of life for women and their families.

Rosie Sundeen, Supporter

Through WINGS, some communities are gaining access to contraceptive options for the first time. I love how WINGS staff treats individuals with care and respect, helping them choose what is best for them.

Susan Cushman, WINGS' Board Member

I visited Guatemala on numerous occasions. Last year, I volunteered with WINGS and joined one of the mobile clinics. I had an opportunity to see the huge need for help in Guatemala. I support WINGS because I want to help empower women in Guatemala.

Karolina Pajor, Voluntaria

During our two years in Guatemala, we were shocked to see very young girls carrying babies on their backs and children working in the fields to help their family make ends meet. When we met Sue Patterson and learned about WINGS, it became one of our favorite charities.

Marietta and Stephen Bartoletti, Supporters

I believe in the mission and want to help disadvantaged communities in Guatemala.

Rebecca, Supporter

I support WINGS because I believe that women everywhere should be able to decide and plan their future.

Kasia O’Donnel, Supporter

I believe in empowering and educating women, and enabling men to support that progress.

Anonymous, Supporter

As a Guatemalan, I believe it is important to get involved with projects that provide real solutions to the issues that affect the development of our country. I have had the chance to see the great work WINGS does and I am glad to be able to contribute to take this cause further.

Fernando Palma, Supporter

Today, we are inviting you to join us in celebration of our 15th anniversary and together maximize effort to save and improve lives in Guatemala.

With your support we will:

🔷 Continue working to create healthier, happier communities in Guatemala, making a lasting impact on poverty reduction and human development

🔷 Empower youth so they can become agents of change and take the lead for the future of their communities

🔷 Strengthen our advocacy program as a vital mechanism for effecting change

🔷 Build on 15 years of transforming and saving lives
